Penalty Analysis

One of the key questions in product development is, to which extent certain properties have an impact the overall assessment of a product or a service.

The penalty analysis reveals these correlations by taking into account the JAR questions (just about right) and consumer satisfaction indicators, such as the overall satisfaction or the purchase intention.

One major advantage of the penalty analysis is the fact that the impact of a product property is not only established in terms of its strength, but also its direction. In this way, the product developer not only learns that something needs to be improved, but also how this should happen.
